      Hi James,
Everything was working fine with Ventura and I stupidly upgraded to Sonoma as a third party extension on Final Cut Pro extension was not working under Ventura. Something strange happened with X2Pro5.
I cannot add any media locations. Should I delete the prefs of X2Pro5 or is there something else I could do.
      Thank You!

        Dear Dev,
Can you check you are on the latest release version of X2pro5, if you are then something odd happened in the OS upgrade. Probably best to remove X2Pro5 and then re-install it.

Please let us know how you get on.

        Yours Sincerely

        James.

            Dear James,

I deleted the app using AppCleaner and re-installed it.

It’s working and I can add the media locations. That’s great, and a relief!!

As I’m working remotely, I ran into another issue, I’m attaching two screenshots. It’s odd as those audio files are clearly visible and heard on the timeline. So I wonder what this alert refers to.

Thank you for the amazing support.

            Best Wishes,

            -dev

              Dear Dev,

They are two different errors, the first appears to be access to the location that media is in, can you add the folder just above the media into Media locations.

The second looks like a possible issue with the media itself, if you can try to play the Mov as is (not in FCP) are there any warnings in the player, if not we will probably want to arrange for a copy of the XML and the media itself.

              Yours Sincerely

              James.

                Thanks James.
I’m in Europe working from a different machine alas. The one with the missing locations is in New York.

The second error, is something I might be able to address by converting the file to WAV (or creating a new MOV file) and replacing that in the timeline.

                Best wishes,

                  Hi James,

The app is pulling up folder locations which do not exist, like a Proxy Folder which has been deleted. The original file plays fine in QuickTime Player or VLC.

I am not sure what to do.

                  Best wishes,

                  – dev

                    Hi Dev,

We only get the path from the FCPXML, the locations are coming up as these paths are still referenced in the XML you are processing. You will need to re-link the media in XML to its new locations.

                    Yours Sincerely

                    James.

                      Thanks James!

                      I’m working on that.
                      Will keep you posted here.

                        Hi James,

Greetings for the New Year and wish you a great 2025!

I’m back here with the same issue.
After checking and re-linking all media I am still getting an error for a folder which does not exist.

There is no folder named Transcoded Media / Proxy Media.

At one point there was a folder which was created by mistake. That’s been removed and I am working with the original files. The timeline (aka sequence or project) plays back perfectly. Exports work as well.

Even if I drag a file into the timeline from the finder, and export a text, I still get this error (see screenshot).

Any thoughts or suggestions on how X2Pro can ignore that non existent folder?

                        Thank You.

                          Hi Dev,

Happy New Year to you and yours 🙂

The media is still referenced in your FCPXML, if you can attach it to this post we can see if we can remove it from the FCPXML.

                          Yours Sincerely

                          James.

                            Hi James,
                            Thank You!
                            Here are four XML files.
The last one (for Composer) has audio only and I’m getting the same error there as well.

                            Thanks again!

                              Hi Dev,

In the four XML’s the file jBR_1A_464_C7C6.mov is referenced twice as asset r24 and r25 in the Sound Effects for Composer.fcpxmld

Have removed both assets from the XML. If you know definitively the location of the above file we could append that, but in the meantime please find attached a XML without r24 and r25.

                              Yours Sincerely

                              James.

                                Hi James,

                                Thank You!
                                I can work without r24 and r25.
However, I now get an error message when I add the new xml file to X2Pro.
                                Please see the screenshot.

                                Best wishes,

Please find the attached, I had forgotten to remove the two references to r24 and one to r25.
