ParticipantI see there’s a discount for new users to purchase X2Pro5 until the end of today 29th February.
But I cannot see a discount for existing users to upgrade, is there one please?29/02/2024 at 8:59 am #523James Carrick
KeymasterDear Imagist,
Once you purchased X2Pro5, any updates / new versions are automatically free on the App Store. The purpose of the discount in general is to encourage existing users of X2Pro to move to X2Pro5, there is no mechanism in the AppStore to provide a subsidised path from the legacy product to the new one, so what we decided to do was to run discounts periodically on X2Pro5.
Yours Sincerely
James.

ParticipantI’m watching the App Store page for months now and have never seen any discounts. It doesn’t look like what you said above is true.

KeymasterDear Cinexpert,
Have passed on your enquiry to the sales and marketing people, from memory they reduced the price around NAB in Vegas last year and normally they do the same around Black Friday and IBC in September.
Yours Sincerely
James.

ParticipantLike I said, the statement about making discounts for existing users to upgrade is not true, because what you described is a normal (even routine) marketing actions to gain new audience and it’s not related to the existing users support in any way.

KeymasterHi Cinexpert,
We have been telling people and it is on the AppStore that you should buy X2Pro5 and not X2Pro since it was launched. We had since the launch about 8 times where the price was reduced, and this was to encourage existing users of X2Pro to upgrade to X2Pro5. The AppStore does not let you target existing users when going from one product to another, hence the primary use of price reduction, we could not tell which users had had X2Pro or didn’t so the price reduction could only be applied universally. X2Pro5 was released in January of 2024, that is 18 months now, so the price reduction to get existing users over is not something I think that sales or marketing would be considering as a reason to reduce the price. My comment was in February of 2024 and was valid then, and for most of 2024 as we had multiple times of price reduction applied.
As I said in my previous post, I have passed on your comments, as it is not my decision when these reductions happen and when they do they are only for short periods of time generally around the times of NAB Vegas, IBC Amsterdam and Black Friday.
Yours Sincerely
James.

ParticipantYet I am your existing customer, whether you like it or not. And I had no idea that you released the new version for at least a year – somehow the previous version of X2Pro has never showed me any pop up with such information. So for the last 8 months I’ve been waiting for a discount and never saw any. But I get it, it’s 18 months for you – good for you. Bye.

KeymasterHi Cinexpert,
Sorry you feel that way, but why would I dislike that you have the previous X2Pro code, we endeavour to treat all customers past and present the same, whether you bought something from us eight years ago when X2Pro was launched or yesterday. We have no knowledge of the users as to who bought what when, I imagine our sales and marketing would love to know but that is not how the AppStore works. As I said there will be another reduction in price, I do not know when but it would probably coincide with NAB,IBC,Black Friday.
Yours Sincerely
James.
