KeymasterAnnette,
your post leaves a few questions, are you using X2Pro or X2Pro5? They are different products and will behave differently.
Is the problem that you are seeing that the software is generating errors about being unable to read a particular mov file?
If the problem is with a particular mov file, have you tried re-encoding the file and replacing the original with the re-encoded version on the timeline?17/04/2025 at 11:25 pm #1160annettemangaard56@gmail.com
ParticipantHi – I’m using X2pro5 and FCPX10.8.
The software is generating an error message similar to the person above. I keep trying to attach an image – – for some rason it wont work – the error message says
Failed to open any bookmark for(file://Volumes/DR%20Annette%20WORKING%20BU%20NOBIFCP%20LOCKED%20PIXNOBI.fcpbundle/_EDIT_PIX_LOCK_March_31/Transcoded%20Media?Proxy%20Media/Clip0146.mov)
I have tried multiple times. It gives a different error message each time – only in terms of the Clip#- the rest of the error message is the same.
I tried opening a new drive. Making a new Library and moving the media to the new drive, exporting an xml and it continues to give me this message. And I’m late for my sound cut. Please let me know what to do. Thanks, Annette

ParticipantHi Tim – I dont know if you saw my response to your post? Where I posted the error message? As I wrote I am using X2Pro 5 and FCPX 10.8.
I have tried and tried to reimport the XML and to add the media files X2Pro asks for but it keeps asking for different files. So basically I am repeatedly getting error messages with a different file name ach time (but otherwise the same message over and over). I even tried uploading all of the files from my movie. The little window to upload media is now full of many many files. It would take me a VERY long time to triple click and remove them all. I really need some assistance.
If the issue is that I am using too new a product can you please tell me where to find the older version of X2Pro? My film is 83 minutes long and the sound cutter is waiting for it and I’m now late with my delivery. Thanks very much,
Annette

KeymasterHi Annette,
I will pop you a direct mail, regarding the failed to open any bookmark, we only get the paths for the media from the FCPXMLD, additionally the XML will have a path to the original media and a path to proxy media. X2Pro5 first uses the path to the original and if not there it will then look to the path for the proxy media as given in the XML.
It is possible the bookmarks that are being used are “stale” and pointing to locations/paths that no longer exist.
I would initially, check and add the folders containing the media into the media locations tab, if they are already there, treble click them to remove them and then add them again.
If this does not work then if you delete the library, and create a new library and drag all the media into this it will re-create the Apple bookmarks.
Yours Sincerely
James

ParticipantHi James:
Thanks so much for your reply.
I have a gizzillion pieces of media in the X2Pro Media Locations tab – is there a way to clear them and begin again?
When you’re referring to ‘library’, do you mean the FCPX Library?
Note—my editor has also been working on this and she spent two days finding each missing proxy file that was referenced and bringing it in to X2Pro. She was finally able to extract an AAF, but when the sound cutter brought it into Pro Tools, there were way too many tracks (in one case 70) with some way down at the bottom with tiny bits of audio on them. In other words, the audio was not on one or two tracks but scattered all around, making it impossible to work with.
Please advise as to how to fix this.
Thanks vey much,
Annette

KeymasterHi Annette,
In the Media Locations tab, treble click the locations and that should remove them. We normally need access to the root location rather than to the folder within a folder within a folder etc.. Once you have removed them, restart the machine.
The methodology is to look for the main piece of media and then if it cannot find it go to the proxy, so it may be going to the proxies as none of the bookmarks are valid/currant, and then falling on those as similarly none of the bookmarks are valid.
Yes when we refer to the library we are referring to the FCPX library.
Yours Sincerely
James.

ParticipantHi James: Thanks for your help – I am wondering if there is a quicker way to remove all the media from the locations? I have about 300 or more pieces of media in there and I dont have time to keep triple clicking.
Thanks, Annette
By the way – my editor – who has now had to move on to another job – says she tried the method you are describing in your last post and that resulted in the AAF that had about 70 tracks – many with only one tiny clip on them. The sound editor refuses to work with this.
Do you think I should try the earlier version of the software?
Let me know, thanks, Annette

KeymasterHi Annette,
There is nothing in the UI to delete multiple locations, we just never thought anyone would have 100’s in there only a dozen or so. There might be a way of adjusting the internal config file to remove them en masse, we will try it here and let you know.
If you can attach the FCPXML you are working with in the meantime we can look at what the AAF looks like in PT as I am not quite sure what the tiny clips are.
Yours Sincerely
James

KeymasterHi Annette,
Would you be able to attach the plist located in /Users/”your user name”/Library/Containers/com.MarquisBroadcast.X2Pro5-Audio-Convert/Data/Library/Preferences/com.MarquisBroadcast.X2Pro5-Audio-Convert.plist
We will see what we can do with it this end.
Yours Sincerely
James.
