KeymasterHi Ralaningalls,
We really need you to attach the fcpxmld to the post to be able to investigate. It could be that the xmld is not in a correct format, i.e. the info.xml is not at the folder where it is supposed to be, or it could be an issue with bookmarks (if you can check) or media locations (remove and add them again).
If you can attach the fcpxmld in question that would be fab.
Yours Sincerely
James.

KeymasterHi Ralaningalls,
Have the FCPXMLD thanks, apologies for some reason I could not see it attached on your post initially.
Will advise.
Yours Sincerely

KeymasterHi Ralaningalls,
The issue is that the FCPXMLD is contained within an FCPXMLD i.e. When you open your zip you have the The-Last-Illusion-v20250621.fcpxmld, however inside here is not the info.xml, you have to go deeper as there is another The-Last-Illusion-v20250621.fcpxmld contained within this folder and this contains the actual info.xml.
Final cut itself is unable to import the higher level The-Last-Illusion-v20250621.fcpxmld see attached error. We get the same error when attempting to open at the same level.
To resolve go into the top level folder The-Last-Illusion-v20250621.fcpxmld copy out the folder in here called The-Last-Illusion-v20250621.fcpxmld and use this project only. You will find it imports into Final Cut and will be processed by X2Pro5

KeymasterDear Jon,
I suspect the xmld is badly formatted, if you can attach it please to this thread we might be able to get it running for you. If you try to import it back into fcp do you get a similar error message ?
Many thanks
James.

KeymasterHi Jon
If we try and import your fcpxmld into FCP we get an FCP error, have modified the xmld and sent you a link to it, and mailed you at jon@……com

ParticipantHi, resurrecting this thread. I regularly use the old X2PRO, without problems. I also regularly try X2PRO5. Last few tries it gives me “The file couldn’t be opened because it isn’t in the correct format.”
These are fcpxmld’s which export without problem using legacy X2PRO. There is a info.fcpxml inside the package (no “d”). They import back to FCP without problem. I tried multiple versions, 11, 12 and 13. I even tried a project with all video removed. No luck. Will attach that XMLD.
I will need X2PRO5 to work reliably in the near future.
Thanks,
SandroAttachments:

KeymasterDear Sandro,
X2pro and X2pro5 have at Apples insistence to use different code sets. The older code was able to access more easily which is one of the reasons why Apple changed the code to be more secure.
I will send you a pre-release version of the latest X2Pro5.
Yours sincerely
James.
