Using FCPX 12.3, exported an XML files of a timeline. Launched X2Pro5, selected Destination AAF Folder, when trying to open the .fcpxmld file into the Source FCP XML Project box, i’m getting this error: Extracting Audio
Extracting audio Asset [r17 : nil] has no valid media
r17 is listed as an asset but with no details, i.e. it is
It should look something like
In the XML r17 is tried to be used as a video clip
But as the asset detail is essentially blank, it is saying, here is an asset with no details, and it is being used for video between this point and that point, but we have no details about it, i.e. where it is, what file it is, does it have audio does it have video, what are these etc..
So the FCPXMLD is malformed, there is also something odd in the structure of the xmld in that we would expect the rescources and asset section to come first, which is at the end in yours, that in itself is not catastrophic, but it is really odd. Normally for a malformed xml if you re-import it back into FCP it will complain, but yours does not. But it contradicts Apples own spec.
I guess options are to remove r17 from the Project or create a new project.
Apologies, the code from the xml I left in the message will be stripped out 🙂 Please see attached for difference between r17 with no details and r18 which does have them.
