    Dear Francis,

We stopped developing X2Pro in June of 2023 as it uses the older coding method of Objective C. Apple advised developers to move off of Objective C to Swift some time before this. Therefore support for any Objective C code on the AppStore going forward was questionable. We had to write a new product called X2Pro5 to cope with the new Apple chip set and code. It does a similar thing but in a different way. We advised on the AppStore to not buy the existing X2Pro in January 2024 when we released X2Pro5. We had to leave X2Pro on the AppStore to provide support for people that had purchased it and needed to re-install it on another machine.

Essentially X2Pro is only compatible upto V1.11 FCPXML’s and these cannot now be created in V 12 Final Cut as it will only create 1.14, 1.13 and 1.12 FCPXML’s.

If you are running Final Cut 11 you will be able to us X2Pro indefinitely.

There is no mechanism in the AppStore that allows you to get a discount on another product if you purchased a different one. We had to release X2Pro5 as a different product as it uses a different code base and it would never pass the Apple qualification as a version of the same product. Please understand the only way we could find for existing users to migrate to X2Pro5 was to provide it at a discount for everyone, there literally was no other option when dealing with the AppStore. It wasn’t ideal and we did not get everyone to migrate, and have periodically released X2Pro5 at a reduced cost for just this reason, we create a list of those people who have X2Pro and notify them ahead of the discount. Please bear in mind the AppStore works by us having no knowledge of any end users or any commercial activity between them and the AppStore.

As I said we can add your name to the list, and when the next discount is run you will be informed.

    Yours Sincerely

    James
