french productionsMarquis Broadcast, specialist in content workflows and media integration software, has announced X2Pro, its cutting edge conversion application for delivering Final Cut Pro X projects to Avid Pro Tools for audio finishing, has been selected for several French productions. The solution has been used by Fabien Daguerre working as a freelance editor at several facilities including Le Lokal, the post production and film studio based in Toulouse, to produce feature length documentaries that have been co-produced and broadcasted by local TLT-Toulouse Television and screened in film festivals.

X2Pro uses Marquis’ Media Highway, the core technology employed by Marquis’ media integration products to integrate Final Cut Pro X into professional audio workflows, delivering seamless integration between the two applications.

“I work for several film production houses in France,” explains Fabien Daguerre. “Some of which host post facilities, but if not, then I work from home in association with the director. That’s why I personally bought X2Pro, as I had bought Final Cut Pro X.

“I began to work professionally with Final Cut Pro X after X2Pro was first released,” continues Daguerre. “Because all my work requires sound mixing, I needed to be able to export an AAF out of Final Cut Pro X. The solution allows me to send my Final Cut Pro X timeline to sound engineer to be mixed in ProTools (or Nuendo).

“With X2Pro I can choose whether I want to reference or embed the media,” explains Daguerre. “BWF metadata is preserved and then if necessary, sound engineers are able to find others takes of the same scene, consolidate (trim) the media choosing the handle length. X2Pro now also has native support for R3D files.

“X2Pro fills the gaps between Final Cut Pro X trackless timeline and track structure of any DAW,” confirms Daguerre. “It converts the audio roles you assigned in Final Cut Pro X to tracks into ProTools.”

Daguerre has now used X2Pro Audio Convert to help produce the following productions, which have been screened at several film festivals.

  • GARI by Nicolas Réglat (Le Lokal productions - TLT)
  • Garonne-Volga et retour(s) by Vladimir Kozlov (Les Docs du Nord - TLT)
  • Nicolaï Grescnhy, une affaire de famille by Vladimir Kozlov (À Propos productions - TLT)
  • Si différents si proches de Jean Depierre (Le Lokal productions – TLT – currently in post-production)
  • La jeunesse du fleuve de Nicolas Pradal (Les Films du Sud – TLT – currently in post-production)
